En daar is nummertje twee!

Yippie! Ben even helemaal op stoom met de stempeldemovoorbereiding. Voor de achterbuurvrouw heb ik voor baby één ooit een 3D-kaart met achtergrondembossing gemaakt (aan de hand van een voorbeeld uit het achtergrondembossingboekje). De kaart was gemaakt van twee grote cirkels, waarvan er één werd doorgesneden en de ander werd dubbelgevouwen. Plak het in elkaar en voila, je hebt een kaart. Het was een supertoffe kaart , maar geen foto beschikbaar natuurlijk. Wellicht is dat ook meteen de verklaring waarom ik dat kaartontwerp nog haarscherp in gedachten heb. Maar goed, ik had bedacht dat ik nog wel iets leuks kon maken voor de demo met dat ontwerp. En dit is het geworden:

Ik ben helemaal in mijn nopjes. Hubby vond het een leuk ding, vriendin L was enthousiaster over kaart 1 (zie vorige post), maar ikzelf zweef nog steeds. Want dat idee om met wat "pijpenrager" voelsprietjes te maken is helemaal spontaan in mijn eigen bolletje ontstaan. Want terwijl ik met de cirkels aan het schuiven was om te zien hoe ze het leukst pasten, herkende ik ineens een soort vlindercontour in het geheel. En wat beter te doen dan een stel voelsprieten te maken om het overduidelijk te maken?

Zo gezegd zo gedaan. De pijpenrager was ik bij een eerdere opruimpoging ergens tegengekomen. Hij stond op de nominatie om weg te doen, want "ik doe er toch nooit iets mee". Zo blijkt wel weer: gooi nooooooooit iets weg, je kunt alles gebruiken! Ik heb hem simpelweg op de kaart geniet (gladde kant binnen, en vóór je de cirkels aan de voorkant vastplakt).

Maar er ontstond een probleempje. De kaart was nu veel te zwaar van voren, dus die kiepte steeds om. Nou zitten de kaarten wel op presentatieborden bij de demonstratie, maar je zult net zien dat er zo'n grapjas wil kijken of het wel blijft staan. Vandaar dat ook de binnenkant van de kaart wat extra aandacht heeft gekregen:

Nu is de kaart "achter" bijna net zo zwaar als voor. Het ziet er wat instabiel uit, maar zelfs bij windkracht acht blijft 'ie staan! Alle cirkels heb ik met de twee ronde Coluzzle snijmallen gemaakt (bedankt voor het lenen mam!). De vlinder op de kleine cirkel voorop is van een embossing/snijmal van JoyCrafts! De kleine vlindertjes binnenin zijn met twee ponsjes uitgestanst. Het is een onvervalste poging om "niet-stempelaars" (ik heb gehoord dat die nog steeds bestaan) over te halen naar het stempelkamp. Met dit voorbeeld wil ik laten zien hoe makkelijk het te combineren is met andere hobbymaterialen. Er volgt binnenkort waarschijnlijk nog een kaart met een 3D-plaatje...

Ik ben nu heel benieuwd wat de reactie van "het publiek" zal zijn. De vorige keer dat ik met Coluzzlemallen aan de gang ben gegaan, werd de kaart door de eigenares van Lumar opgenomen in het workshopprogramma. Als de mensen nu net zo enthousiast zijn, denk ik dat ze weer een "anders dan anders" workshop kan geven!

Kaart één is demo-klaar!

Hij is af. De kaart die ik eergisteren in onderdelen liet zien. Hij is wel een beetje anders geworden dan aanvankelijk gepland. Het karton dat ik er als kaart onder wilde doen, had ik alleen nog voor vierkante kaarten. Dus het hele spul een beetje versneden en voila: kaart één voor de demo is een feit.

Het hart is gestempeld door twee bladeren een klein beetje te laten overlappen. Ik beleef in dezelfde kleur, dus ik heb geen masker gebruikt. Daarna heb ik het uitgesneden en op donkergroen gemat. Het zit rechtsboven met foamtape aan de kaart vast en onderaan met gewone dubbelzijdige tape. Zo kantelt het hart precies zoals ik het hebben wil. De vier gebruikte stempels op de kaart komen van de Artemio stempellappen die ik ga demonstreren.
De volgende kaart wordt geel of roze (onder voorbehoud), want 10 maart is het alweer bijna lente. Tijd voor vrolijk tinten dus! Dat kan sowieso geen kwaad met het grijze weer van nu...

Stempeldemo op 10 maart!

Jawel, het gaat gebeuren: ik ga een demonstratie stempelen geven. Op 10 maart in de hobbywinkel van Lumar aan het Korvelplein 199 in Tilburg. Ik heb er al vaker gedemonstreerd, maar dit wordt de eerste keer dat ik er met stempels aan de gang ga!!!

Ik moet zeggen, ik twijfelde even. Want mijn moeder demonstreert er al langer dan ik en houdt ook erg van stempelen. En ook één van de andere vaste demonstratrices is een stempelsiast. Beetje lullig dat ik dan wel ga stempelen en zij niet. Maar volgens de eigenares van Lumar krijgen zij ook wel een keer hun kans.

Ik zal met nieuwe unmounted lappen van Artemio/Hubinont aan het werk gaan. Ik mocht er gisteren twee uitzoeken in de winkel. Hoe cool is dat? Winkelen zonder te betalen. Enige minpuntje is dat de stempels na de demo teruggaan naar de rechtmatige eigenaar (Lumar). Gisteravond dus maar meteen aan het werk gegaan. En dan gebeurt het: het blok! Want al dat snoepgoed voor mijn neus en het idee "nu begint het echt" staan garant voor een directe blokkade van mijn ideeën. Klinkt misschien stom, maar in mijn hoofd bekijk ik mijn ideëen dan ineens door de ogen van de "bezoeker" van de open dag waar ik demonstreer. Onzin natuurlijk, want mensen zijn tot op heden altijd enthousiast over mijn werk. Maar toch, een beetje nervositeit schijnt er bij te horen.

Toen ik ruim een uur aan tafel had zitten staren naar de uitgestalde inkten, de stempels en mijn hobbygereedschap, kwam er toch een klein lichtpuntje. Toen ben ik aan het werk gegaan. Het kaartje is nog niet af, maar het werk in uitvoering ziet er zo uit:

Natuurlijk is dit een afschrikwekkende kaart. Het is helemaal niet moeilijk, maar ziet er wel moeilijk en bewerkelijk uit. Dus als mensen alleen maar dit soort kaartjes op mijn tafel zien, rennen ze gauw door naar de ponsjes en de malletjes waar de andere demonstratrices me mee beconcurreren... Maar ik heb besloten maar gewoon te maken wat er in me opkomt. Zo hoef ik mezelf niet te kwellen met twijfels of het niet te moeilijk, te makkelijk, te hip, te oubollig, te kleurrijk, te flets etc is. Dan kom ik uiteindelijk vanzelf wel tot een "demonstratie-bestendige" collectie. Dus hou deze blog in de gaten, want ik zal jullie mee laten genieten!

O ja, voor de oplettende kijker: ik ben overgestapt naar mijn eigen taaltje voor dit blog. Engels is internationaal gezien wel handiger, maar ik vrees dat ik op de lange termijn geen zin meer kan maken om de blog bij te houden. Weer een drempeltje weggehaald in mijn eigen belevingswereldje. Ja, ook in de bovenkamer is continu werk in uitvoering ;-)

Hi there!

Just a quick post this time, 'cause I'm very busy at home...

I put some of my great deals from last Saturday to good use already. My dear dad gave me money to buy some "nice stuff" at the sale, so I just had to thank him with this little card:

He wondered why on earth anyone would have the patience of colouring those teenie-weenie images, but he liked the card. My mom absolutely loved it (thank you mom), as did my friend L. But please, don't be shy there! Take a second or two to let me know what you think of it. It's really cool to know if there are people reading my stuff and seeing my work...

Still alive!

Yep, that whole new computer was a bit harder to get running then expected. That’s clear. But it’s up and running now, so I’m back with all new content again.

Didn’t do much stamping since that orange card I showed early January. Made a card for my mother-in-law, she had her birthday last Monday. Forgot to make a picture of it though, so can’t show it here. It was a dark red card with a 3D-picture of a tabby cat by Francien van Westering, a really talented painter from Holland. You’ll just have to take my word for it that is was a nice card.

I went to a sale yesterday with my mother and my friend L. It was held at a stamps factory in the city of Eindhoven. And we all had some mixed feelings about it. Yes there were great deals and enough stamps to go round. But I was there for the second time and saw a lot of the same stuff as last year. And my mother, being supportive to all stamp-related initiatives from our own country, had bought quite a lot of new stamps from that manufacturer this year. But it turned out a lot of those new stamps were up for grabs as well! So she paid well over €100,00 for a couple of unmounted Ready2stamp sheets, but I was able to pick out only the ones I really liked and go home with 22 stamps for only ten Euros. That really sucked. Maybe I should not have bought those stamps after all. I just hope that my mother will be more careful buying products from them. And I didn’t really like the way they worked before, that has not gotten any better after yesterday…
But it’s only fair to mention that I did have some great deals. I went home with 30 unmounted stamps (we call them ummies), a big ink pad (Fresh green by Colorbox), a cat’s eye (Lime by Colorbox again) and a very, very cute alphabet starring Pooh, Tigger and Piglet. I have been lurking on that set from All night media for almost three years, but now I finally bought it. This much to the likes of my Hubby, who is a big fan of Pooh. So this was my second treasure bath this year, and January is not even over yet!

Yippie, my first comment!

Yep, got a comment on a post the other day (on the happy new year post, but about the January 2nd post). Someone is reading my stuff! I suspect a very good friend of mine, who lives too far away from me (snif). Thank you H!


Didn't post for two days, so I'll have to do some catching up. I bought myself a book (Making websites for dummies) that is very interesting. Been a blogger for less than a week and I am already dreaming of heaving my own website! Well, who knows. Maybe I'll get the hang of it somewhere down the line.

Yesterday I posted a little "welcome to the world" card a couple of houses down the street. I got caught in the act though, so I was invited in, got a mug of tea and a little mini-boy in my arms. Very cool! Felt a bit embarrassed that I did not bring any gifts, but I did not expect to get invited in. This is the card I tried to snug in the mailbox:

I know, it's not a stamped card, but I do other techniques as well sometimes. Created the background wit a punch (following a pattern). Had the card waiting for the perfect opportunity for quite some time.

The little boy is called Mats and he choose the second Christmas day (yes, the Dutch have two of those) to come into the world. I know by experience that it's not much fun to have your birthday on a holiday (my mother celebrates hers on the second Christmas Day as well), but I hope it will not bug him too much.

But this was the last baby card I had "on stock", so I'm off to work now. Got to get me some stock again, because we are expecting a baby boom in our neighbourhood starting early April. Gives my lovely hubby the change to install his new toy. That is a brand new computer, so if you don't hear from me for a while, something went less smooth than it is supposed to... Hope to write you soon again!

Treasure bath!

Today I went treasure hunting. All by myself. I went to town, to local gardening centres, I searched everywhere for fine materials to use with my stamping addiction. And boy, did I succeed. I was a woman on a mission and I really shopped until I dropped. Or until someone ran into my car. That sort of spoiled the fun... But I lived and the man who hit me was very reasonable (yes, HE ran into ME, not my fault!). All is well again, just have to get the dents out and the paperwork going.

Anyway, I came home with loads of very cheap Christmas stuff (I'd like a bronze and cognac tree next year) and -drum roll please- loads of stamping goodies. Two Christmas stamping sets, tons of ribbon, a "gemstone" sticker alphabet, raffia in three tones of orange (what else?) and a noticeable amount of tree decorations that will be cut into nice little embellies for my cards. The strangest find of the day must be the yellow and green eggs for Easter. Just 50 euro cents for 10 eggs! How's that for starting Easter decorations early this year?

Posted my birthday card creation for my sister-in-law in Switzerland between all the shopping. When I showed it to my parents the other day, there were mixed reactions. My mother, not a very big fan of paisleys, loved the card. My father, normally my biggest fan, was not enthusiastic. He thought is was not a very girly card. But with my sister-in-law turning 40-something, I am not very worried. She loves orange as well as I do and she has a nose for sophisticated trendy designs. So I think I'll be save with this:

The paisley is a stamp by Hero Arts. The texts is a stamp as well, I got it from a magazine subscription. It says "Proficiat" which is a Dutch variation on "Happy Birthday". The background is stamped with a flower stamp by Sirius Hobby (Dutch manufacturer of stamps). The bar code at the back is a stamp as well, one from Hero Arts again. Both Hero Arts stamps were won with the Summer-contest at the HeroArts-website (not that I want to brag, but I had a honorable mention YIPPIE, sorry, bragged a bit there). I used bronze ink with the paisley and orange with the text and the background flowers. The button unmistakably came from one of my jeans... The birthday girl should receive the card by January the fourth. Hope she likes it.

Well, I'm off to put all my treasures away. Hope I'll have some time left to put some of it to use already...

"Eeeeehm guys, is it twelve o´clock yet? I think it is, isn´t it?"

We went over to friends last night to celebrate the new year. We had a great time. In fact, we were so preoccupied with our little game of "Munchkin", we didn't notice the new year had began for five minutes! Of course there were fireworks to let us know, but there had been fireworks all day. So we kind of missed 0.00 o'clock this year -oops-. Never happened before.

We brought two little glasses with plants with us for the lady of the house. I wrapped them up myself and added two stamped labels. One glass had a "G" dangling down a piece of ribbon (the Dutch word for "Happy" is "Gelukkig", that's why there is a G involved). The other glass had a "N" for new year (or "Nieuwjaar" in Dutch). I took some pictures of the packages, but was in a big hurry (as always, we never seem to get anywhere on time), so the shots are somewhat blurry. This is the best one of the bunch.

As you can see, I wrote the complete words of the greeting on the stamped letters. I used a Tsuneko Glaze roller pen (real white) for that. Great tool if I may say so. Works on all colored surfaces, including on the inside of my very dark blue and green Christmas cards this year. Letter stamps are from a foam alphabet set by Memory Makers.

Anyway, I wish everyone all the best for this new year. May it be filled with lots of stamps and stampingly good times! And who knows, maybe I´ll have some major breakthrough this year, like getting discovered by a major stamp/scrap-magazine, or even starting my own stamp-related business. Better keep on reading my blog then, just in case...
